Mark Hall defines himself as "a broken person made whole". Casting Crowns began as a student worship band. The members of the band at that time were Juan DeVevo, Melodee DeVevo, and Hector Cervantes. Mark Hall was the lead singer/songwriter and youth pastor. After two years of service in Florida, Casting Crowns moved to a Baptist Church in Georgia. Almost immediately when they arrived, two others joined the band — Chris Huffman and Megan Garrett. A year later, Andy Williams joined, completing Casting Crowns.
The band recorded four studio records and three live records that were mainly distributed in the Atlanta area and very successful."There was the temptation to send our CDs to record companies," Hall says, "but we prayed about it and came to the realization we needed to keep doing our music our way." Mark Hall received several Dove Award nominations at the 36th GMA Dove Awards. The Casting Crowns song "Praise You In This Storm", written by Hall, was also nominated for Song of the Year.

Why We Think They're Christians:
We think Casting Crowns is Christian, because of how powerful the words to their songs are. Not only do their songs glorify God (ex: "Blessed Redeemer", "Holy One") But they also show their struggles that they go through. (ex: "Praise You In This Storm", "Slow Fade") So their songs do not show that Christians are perfect now that they are Christians. It shows that they still praise God through all their life struggles.
